Stunning views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains welcome visitors to Pendaries Village, located near the tiny village of Rociada, New Mexico.

Pendaries Village is a well-kept secret get-away for guests and homeowners.  Breathtaking views at its 7,500-8,000 foot elevation only add to the enjoyment of its centerpiece 18-hole golf course.

With its resort facilities and its residential community Pendaries Village provides a relaxing and fun vacation spot along with the ambience and warmth of a neighborhood.  Guest facilities include overnight lodge accommodations, house rentals, food service for breakfast and lunch at the informal Snack Bar at the Golf Shop or dinner and drinks at the welcoming Pendaries Restaurant and Bar. Don’t be surprised if you make new friends while enjoying your stay. Guest facilities are open from late April through mid-October.

Non-golfers and golfers alike find many other recreational opportunities in the area – from back country forest road and mountain trail hiking, bicycling and star gazing, to exploring the region’s fascinating history and culture.

Pendaries Village was carved out of the 5,000-acre Pendaries Ranch, established in 1875 by Jean Pendaries, an emigrant from Gascony, France.  The gristmill he built to serve the western states’ military commissary at Fort Union can still be spotted as one drives into Pendaries. Descendants of the ranch founder continued to operate the ranch into the twentieth century, as well as providing leadership roles in state government.

C.D. (Toad) Leon purchased the ranch in the 1950s and began breeding Appaloosa horses, later being credited with reviving the breed’s popularity. His energy and conviviality, along with his legendary horse auctions, attracted many visitors to the area. His passion for golf inspired him to design and build a private 12-hole golf course.  After his friends began coming out to play golf with him, he platted the subdivision so that they could build vacation homes. From that beginning the present community of over 220 homes, many with year-round residents, has evolved. Today the community-owned facilities offer outstanding value to property owners. Home sites are available, many with spectacular mountain views and others with secluded woodland settings.

Pendaries is located only half an hour north from Las Vegas, New Mexico. Both Santa Fe and Taos are only an hour and a half away, offering additional sightseeing and shopping destinations while in the area.
